Human Hair Extensions.
Human hair extensions can be used to add length, thickness or volume and highlights or lowlights to your own hair without the harshness of colouring your own hair.
Human hair extensions can be treated just like your own hair, you can wash them, colour them & heat style them.
The main types of human hair used in extensions:
| Indian Hair | is a popular choice and generally of higher quality than Chinese hair. Suitable for all hair types. |
| Chinese Hair | thicker than European grade hair. It is Black. Usually needs to be chemically treated to make it thinner and to lighten it. Less expensive. |
| European Hair | possibly the most popular choice due to its extensive colour range and soft natural feel. Does not necessarily come from Europe. Suitable for European hair types. |
| Russian Virgin Hair | the most exclusive type of hair. It has not been treated chemically or dyed in any way. Colour range is limited. Expensive. Suitable for all hair types. |

Hair used in the industry comes in many different
qualities. The highest quality hair will have its cuticle perfectly aligned (Remy hair), if the cuticle scales are not facing the same direction, the hair will interlock (like Velcro) which can cause matting and tangles.
The standard hair we use is 100% European cuticle correct human hair which is the most popular and affordable. Cuticle correct means that the roots of the hairs are lying in the same direction as the client's hair which prevents tangling and the formation of spilt ends. It also means your extensions will move like natural hair. If clients prefer a different hair such as Russian Virgin hair then this can be sourced and installed for you, prices will vary but this will be discussed at your consultation.
Installation/application methods:

| Fusion Bonds | the extension hair is bonded to your hair with a Keratin resin, leaving a small rice sized bond which cannot be seen. This method is favoured by the celebs. Gives natural movement, lasts for 12 weeks if aftercare routine is followed. |  | 3-4 hours |
| Micro Rings | the extension hair is threaded onto your own hair and secured with the micro ring (small ring).The micro ring is clamped flat to hold the extension in place. No heat or bonding glue is used. |  | 3-4 hours |
Pro-Flex Tape | sections of clear tape are attached to the weft of the extension hair and then attached to your natural hair. This method has to be one of the kindest as it puts no strain on the natural hair. It is also extremely comfortable to wear. Suitable for short term wear, weddings, parties etc |  | 1-2 hours |

At Funky Rapunzels we use pre-bonded hair for our fusion bonds and micro ring application methods, as it speeds up the installation process. Pre-bonded human hair is available as stick tipped or nail tipped. At Funky Rapunzels we will pre-bond the hair prior to your appointment.
For Pro-flex tape application method wefts of human hair are used.
